Liturgy and Music
Our Sunday Mass (Saturday evening or Sunday morning) is the high point of our week and gives life to the Parish community. Many members of the Parish serve the gathering in various ways: cleaning or decorating the church with flowers; welcoming people or serving at the altar; proclaiming God’s word in the readings; helping to distribute Holy Communion both in church and to sick people at home or in hospital; leading the music. On Sunday morning a small group of musicians and singers leads us in singing the Mass and accompanying the action in song. We welcome new volunteers for any of these roles.
Cafod Action Group
This group takes responsibility for distributing and collecting the Lent and Harvest Fast Day envelopes and for providing the opportunity for parishioners to donate to emergency appeals. Our activities are three-fold: prayer, campaigning and fund raising. We organise an Advent service, a Lenten Stations of the Cross and an outdoor service. These all have a justice and peace theme.
We act on campaigning initiatives of CAFOD, encouraging parishioners to challenge injustices of governments and major manufacturers.
Life Ascending Group
The Life Ascending Group in the parish is for people retired or over 50. We meet in the morning on the second Wednesday of each month and always welcome people to join us.
The group has three aims: the development of Faith, Friendship and Mission, in a growing awareness of the needs of the world in which we live.
Journey in Faith
If you want to know who we are as Catholics and what we believe: ‘Come and see.’ We invite anyone who wants to find out more about the Catholic Church to come to our regular Journey in Faith meetings, where we explore our faith together. For some people this is the first step towards becoming a full member of our Catholic parish community.
